THE PROJECT
THERE ARE KIDS UNABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF FIGURE SKATING & TRULY LEARN THE BEAUTIFUL SPORT.
The We All Skate program CAN HELP.
THE PROJECT
We All Skate is a not for profit program that provides opportunity to children who are unable to experience figure skating due to its expenses. For being one of the most elegant sports, figure skating is expensive in that it is limited to those of economic privilege. This leaves the sport with a lack of diversity.
It is painful to hear a story of someone who loves figure skating not able to participate because of the cost. The financial barrier disallows a person from truly experiencing even a mere glimpse of the beautiful dynamics of figure skating. So how can this campaign help?
We All Skate plans to provide free lessons to individuals who are from low-income families. Through invitations, reading stories, and an application portal, this program will accommodate your situation and provide the expenses for skate rentals, session costs, and transportation. Though space is limited, and it will most likely be a one-time experience, it is an experience of a lifetime for some. In addition to expenses paid, there will be a specialized trained coach, who will guide and teach you new skills. We ultimately hope to erase some barriers to participation and give a wonderful glimpse of the world of figure skating. Those who are not laced in economic luxury should not be or feel completely excluded from the sport
THE HARD TRUTH
As one of the most expensive sports in the world, the costs of figure skating equate to some people's yearly living salary.

LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THEORETICAL COSTS:
- Skates: $500 to $1000
- Skate Blades: $500 to $750
- Coaching Fee: $60 or more an hour
- Ice Time: $20 an hour
- Choreographer: $60 or more an hour
- Off-ice Training: $60 or more an hour
- Costume (need 2 for two programs): $200 to $3000
- Testing (to get to highest level): $100 per test
- Competitions: $100 to $200 per competition
- Travel/Hotel Costs: Varies with location and hotel choices (Skaters may also have to pay for the coach's expenses)
- There are also plenty of other factors such as club association and physical therapy. It is also important to note the more non-monetary assets, like transportation, people's time, and other sacrifices.

Note that these expenses are merely estimates and based on personal experiences. Prices may vary greatly based on the level of skater, the level of coaches, training facility, city, and other factors. That being said, this is still a pretty accurate depiction of the tremendous amount of expenses families have to pay.
In the presence of these costs, families have gotten second mortgages on homes or worked multiple jobs. Not everyone has the economic luxury to afford the mere basics of the sport. While participation in the sport will never be completely free or accessible, We All Skate will help to open the doors for those who wish to experience the rewarding sport of figure skating.
